What is Self Allocation?

Self Allocation gives team members a simple way to update the team they're a member of during their Huddle or Survey Submission experience. Depending on how self allocation has been configured by your organisation, a user's request to change team (or join an additional team) may require approval from either a Manager or an Admin.
Update these changes in your HRIS data source of truth otherwise they will be reset by next organisation wide data update.

Configuration

When configuring self allocation the principle of inheritance applies, making it easy to have a consistent setup across your organisation. The configuration for a team, is applied (eg inherited) by all the teams under that team in the organisation hierarchy. This behaviour is the same if you select "self allocation is off" - all sub-teams in the hierarchy inherit that configuration.

How to configure self allocation

  1. Open the Team List screen
  2. Select Edit Team
  3. Select the Self Allocation tab
  4. Choose your configuration option:
    1. Team member can join this team
    2. Manager approval required to join this team
    3. Admin approval required to join this team
    4. Self allocation is off
  5. Save

Other Notes

  1. Teamgage Administrator(s) can access a Self Allocation Audit Log for every team change that happens
  2. Each team member can move up to 5 times in 30 days
  3. If a team member has made a mistake, at anytime an Administrator can simply override their change in the Teamgage Portal. Managers will also be able to override changes if they are given permission - see
  4. Manager Team Management
  5. If you would like to deactivate Self Allocation, edit the Entire Organisation team & choose the configuration option "Self allocation is off". If everyone team in your organisation has Self Allocation deactivated, the Change Team on the Huddle Submission screen will also be removed
